Remote Desktop RDP Common Windows 10 set up issues
First, on your windows 10 pc uncheck the Remote Desktop properties box that says “Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication”. This won’t work with older remote desktop clients or mobile / tablet apps such as the one you will be using.
Secondly, check that your network profile is set to ‘Private’, if it’s set to ‘Public’ the firewall may be blocking Remote Desktop connections.
Open Network & Internet Settings, then click ‘Properties’ and set the ‘Network profile’ to ‘Private’.
Remote desktop cannot connect to itself, so unfortunately you can’t self-test it from the laptop.
Use your Android RDP App to connect, the Remote desktop computer name should appear then use your username and password to login. If you are signed-in with a Microsoft account you can also use the email address associated with the account as a username, but the local username should always work in any scenario. It won’t work if you don’t have a password set on the account.
You should be able to use the computer name or the local IP address, personally I would recommend using the IP address as some devices cannot find the computer name over the network.
