B&G 3D Motion sensor benefit
We are trying to assess the case for adding the 3D motion sensor to get motion corrected wind. Does anyone have any evidence to demonstrate the benefit of this addition or know of who might be able to provide some more concrete justification?
The concept makes sense, but interested if anyone has shown this.
Thanks

Motion sensing for correcting wind dramatically enhances your wind speed and angle sensor input. As you can appreciate the induced winds by the motion of the masthead are not insignificant, especially in light/moderate conditions with a seastate.
Motion corrected winds require much less damping resulting in a more responsive wind reading as well as being more accurate without using the averaged out peaks and troughs of an oscillating sensor input.
So, my recommendation is definitely to use motion sensing if available. All half decent instrument systems use motion correction/gyros, like A+T, RacingBravo, FaRo, H5000 etc.
