H5000 expansion module-BSP

We have a nmea2000 Airmar st800 but it only sample to 1hz.

In my opinion BSP data is less refreshed than H3000… but on the other hand a very clean installation.

I think that we should change to a pulse st800 and connect it via expansion module (analog) but I am curious about how h5000 will sample BSP raw and if this change will be good for starts, tacks data, etc…..

Any difference with connectin sensor directly to cpu?

I can’t find info about PGN sentences and refresh rate send by h5000 expansion modules.

This is an interesting question, that latter part (h5000 expansion modules) is one that may need to be addressed directly to B&G.

However in a practical environment, a 1Hz output from a speed sensor is reasonable considering the rates of acceleration/deceleration of a reasonably large mass.

In terms of sample rates, considering paddle pulses are in the region of 4 pulses per second per knot, then a 1Hz output is pretty good. Consider a 0.3kt change in speed at 6 kt, is a change of only one pulse per second.
