Bypass Go Free?

The boat has H5000 and a GoFree.

AS it is, I can connect over wifi to the gofree, and establish a websocket connection for getting H5000 data, which works fine.

For a variety of reasons, I want to bypass the go free, and have the H5000 either go directly to my laptop via ethernet cable, or go to a different, more capable, router.

It should be possible, to plug ethernet out of the H5000 directly into a laptop, right?

On this boat, it is very difficult to trace wires, but I am pretty sure that the H5000 ethernet out goes directly to the gofree network connection. That is typically how the gofree gets H5000 data - right?

The problem is that when I disconnect the network cable going into the go free, put a short simrad RJ 45 adapter cable on it, and plug it into the ethernet port on my laptop.., i do not get any data. my laptop sees a newtork, but there seems to be nothing on it. I can not get data over a websocket connection in expedition.., nor can i connect to the H5000 with a browser,

Any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks - I might do that. the internet would be cellular..., but anyway the boat is off cruising for a bit now so i don't have access to it for a while.
