Jagged Track with NGT-1
Hi, the boat in question has H5000 Hydra with an NGT-1 N2K interface. I get position and AIS over the NGT-1 and everything else from H5000 websocket over GoFree.
When very zoomed in, I notice a very jagged track when getting position from NGT-1, and the boat jumps around. The track is considerably smother when I get position from H5000, and turn position off on the NGT-1.
In the NGT-1 settings, I have made sure I only have one position source selected - the ZG100. I have also tried using each of the two position PGNs (129025 and 129029) independently. Both yield a very jagged track and a jumping boat when zoomed in.
Is there possibly a problem with my NGT-1?

Nick suggests that it is better to use the NGT-1 for position, as it has less latency. Also, on this boat, websocket is over wifi (GoFree), and I certainly prefer to get position over the NGT-1, rather than wifi - especially when navigating near shore. My concern in this case is not so much the latency, as the possibility for a "hiccup" in the wifi data stream which goes unnoticed until i hit a rock...
My understanding is that 129025 is 10kz with 1e^-7deg precision, and 129029 is 1hz with 1e^-16deg precision. They both behave the same when plotted -a jagged track and a jumpy boat when zoomed in.
I do not know what the precision of position is over websocket.
I will check the HDOP of each PGN.
I think I will also contact Actisense, but it would be helpful to know if anyone else observes this.
