Boatspeed Heel Correction

Hello All,

I have a question regarding correction of paddlewheel boatspeed based on heel angle. From my understanding boatspeed tends to over-read when the boat is heeled. The only "published" information I have found online (aside from some forum posts) is the following table from NKE's regatta processor manual which shows the boatspeed reduction factor as the boat heels.

I guess my question is this - how does one come up with this type of correction table for a particular boat, and how much does this table vary from boat-to-boat? Assuming the log has been well-calibrated under motor at various speeds to address non-linearities - I can't think of a practical way to then develop the heel correction table empirically.

Thanks in advance for any help.
